I am a terrestrial ecologist and independent ecological consultant with 35 years professional experience working in the UK and the Arabian Gulf region. I specialise in vegetation surveys and GIS mapping (especially using the National Vegetation Classification in the UK), but can also undertake other botanical work (e.g. surveys of invasive non-native species), bird surveys, general ecological appraisal (Phase 1) and impact assessment work. For protected species surveys I recommend contacting the consultancies listed on my links page (see opposite).
I also design and publish books on natural history and wildlife under the imprint of Browndown Publications and can take on work related to the management of wildlife data and biological records, such as data input, databasing and mapping.
My clients include other ecological consultancies, planning consultancies, public utility companies, non-governmental organisations and private individuals. I am a Full Member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM), a committee member of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight’s Flora Group and the British Bryological Society’s regional recorder for VC10 (Isle of Wight) and VC11 (South Hants). See the links opposite for further details.
